GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS, August 31, 2009 –Deeply-touched by the tragedy unleashed upon Taiwan by Typhoon Morakot, Investors Trust Assurance SPC (“Investors Trust”) is helping affected families by donating NT$1,000,000 to support the crisis relief programs of aid organization World Vision. The donation will be used to rebuild homes in heavily damaged areas, as well as help restore the lives of affected families and their communities.
“Seeing homes and families destroyed by this natural disaster was extremely painful to us since our constant goal is to help our customers around the world plan for a comfortable retirement and provide sufficient safeguards for their children,” Investors Trust CEO William Zelaya explained. “Without a home, it would be hard to imagine how these families could think of a bright future, so we decided to make our contribution the moment we saw the heartbreaking scenes.”
Investors Trust supported the crisis relief programs of World Vision by adding the NT$1,000,000 donation to the fund. World Vision has worked tirelessly to provide food and shelter for victims of the natural disaster. The organization has also collected school supplies and books for children throughout the affected areas in Taiwan.
“We chose World Vision for the donation because we feel that it shares a similar ideology as Investors Trust, in that it not only hopes to provide flood survivors with basic needs but has come up with long-term plans, such as setting up recreational spaces for children to play and read safely,” Zelaya explained. “We hope these families will soon be able to rebuild both their lives and their spirits.”
