Share A Little Love

This Valentine’s Day, we are sharing the love with some delicious mini-cupcakes from a local Miami business with a great cause. Lee and Marie’s Cakery is a creative bakery and fresh cafe serving up delicious baked goods, sandwiches and salads in a quaint, homey atmosphere. The menu changes day-to-day depending on the availability of fresh produce and local ingredients. The Cakery works with local farmers to sustain the highest quality of natural ingredients. But, they have a mission that goes beyond the creation of tasty treats and fresh entrees. Lee and Marie’s Cakery provides support and employment to adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a cause close to the owner’s heart.ValentinesCard

Andrea Travaglia, owner of the Cakery and an active philanthropist, dreamed of creating an environment that would ease the transition to adulthood for those with autism. After watching her closest friend struggle with this transition for her autistic child, Andrea was on a mission to create a profitable business that would provide opportunities for this underemployed and undervalued population. In conjunction with the University of Miami/Nova Southeastern University’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, Andrea has created an environment of opportunity for adults with ASD. Lee and Marie’s Cakery is helping autistic adults reach their full potential and establish a more independent life.
