Cabbage is one of those veggies that you’ll consume when it’s mixed into coleslaw, a vegetable medley or an Asian stir-fry. But, rarely is it sought out for as the main feature or even the accompanied dish of an entree. That’s about to change with this simple and healthy recipe, turning the boring cabbage into a dinner celebrity.
Roasted Cabbage Steaks
Makes 6 servings | Total Time: 40 minutes
Three one-inch thick slices red cabbage
Three one-inch thick slices green cabbage
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
- Preheat oven to 400℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the cabbage slices on the prepared baking sheet. Place one tablespoon of softened butter on each piece of cabbage and spread evenly across the surface.
- Season the cabbage with salt, pepper and caraway seeds.
- Roast until the cabbage is tender and lightly browned around the edges, 20 to 25 minutes.
- Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving warm.
- Plate it up and wait for the reactions.
